Liang Gallery at 2023 Taipei Dangdai

Liang Gallery is honoured to participate in Taipei Dangdai Contemporary Art Fair for the fourth time. This year, we are pleased to present the latest works of 2023 in a double solo exhibition by artists LO Chiao-Ling and YEN Ching-Chieh.

Lo’s exhibition extends from her 2022 solo exhibition, The Light in the Story, with the theme of light and children’s images. The light of the beautiful time, the mysterious light of the night, and the glory of her own light are transformed into a light that brings warmth to people. Through her works, Lo captures certain unspeakable states and moments of fascination, hoping to bring out some warm and magical little power to pass on to each other’s hearts, leading us to move forward together with the light.

Based on a sci-fi narrative setting, Yen’s Homebound Journey illustrates the return of human beings to Earth a hundred years later after their interstellar drift – many lives on Earth have changed dramatically, and the forests and oceans have become one with the planet’s creatures, interdependent with each other. Yen’s work presents these new forms of life polymer, which are seemingly immense but composed of many tiny units that have their own function and mission. Through convergence and divergence, they achieve a symbiotic and independent existence, allowing humans to rethink their place and role in the universe. As Carl Edward Sagan said, “But nature is always more subtle, more intricate, more elegant than what we are able to imagine”.

Liang Gallery, founded 30 years, has been committed to developing international collaboration and the exchange of art. For many years, it has been selected for inclusion in international art fairs and biennales to promote Taiwanese art.
